I got a late start but sporting my reflective vest and seatpost light I planned on doing three laps up on 11th ave. I finished the first lap and was part way through the second when I noticed some runners running two abreast in the bike lane. Neither of them had any reflective gear and they were running with traffic(we all know that runners are supposed to run against traffic, right?). I passed them on the left and as I was pulling back into the bike lane I hit a rock. A couple of hundred yards down the road my front tire flattened.
I guess it was time to learn how to use my new co2 nozzle. I have used one before but this one is quite different. It is a small metal deal the co2 screws onto one end and the other end goes on the tire valve. I got everything ready to go, pushed the nozzle onto the valve and screwed in the co2….nothing. I screwed it tighter, still nothing. Hmmmmmm. Maybe I am supposed to back it out now, so I tried that and it started to leak out of the threads. Better screw it back on. So it’s pretty dark at this point but I inspect the nozzle and realize there is a spring in the stem, ah ha! So I manage to activate the co2 and it fills the tire. Then I notice that I have the tire beaded wrong and I have to let a little air out to get it to seat just right. There is still some co2 left and I am able to fill the rest of the tire. Not wanting to temp the god’s of fate any more I decide to head home.

Good idea. I only had one experience with CO2 it wasn’t quite as successful as yours.
BTW, which Vineman distance are you doing? I followed the link you provided and it looks awesome.
